Arizona Diamondbacks
The Arizona Diamondbacks are a Major League Baseball team and belong to the National League. To be precise to the Western Division of the National League. The team is based in Phoenix Arizona and is often also referred to as D-backs.
The Arizona Diamondbacks were founded in 1998 when the need for a baseball team in the desert arose. With Phoenix slowly growing to one of the major cities in the US the National and American league tried to figure out who would place a team in Arizona. From its beginning the team was supposed to draft fans from allover the state and therefore the team was named Arizona Diamondbacks versus the Phoenix affiliation in their name.
The Arizona Diamondbacks first baseball game as a Major League Team was against the Colorado Rockies on March 31st, 1998. The Arizona Diamondbacks ballpark back then was the Bank One Ballpark, which at that time was a standing-room only facility.
When the tickets went on sale in January the Arizona Diamondbacks stadium sold out before lunch the same day.
In their first five seasons the Arizona Diamondbacks won three division titles. The 2001 Arizona Diamondbacks also won their first World Series in these first five seasons.
The Arizona Diamondbacks uniforms and the Arizona Diamondbacks logo stayed mainly untouched and unchanged from their first season until 2006 when a complete redesign took over the old parts.
