Atlanta Braves

The Atlanta Braves are a Major League Baseball team. They are based in Atlanta, Georgia since 1966. They belong currently to the National League Eastern Division. As a baseball team they were established in 1871 in Boston, Massachusetts.

The Atlanta Braves reaching back to 1871 is one of the only two remaining National League charter members, along with the Chicago Cubs.

In 1952 the Boston Braves were moved from Boston to Milwaukee, where the team was called Milwaukee Braves. The Milwaukee Braves where finally moved to Atlanta to become the Atlanta Braves in 1966.

Before belonging to the National League Eastern Division the Atlanta Braves competed in the Western Division from 1969 to 1993.

In the years from 1991 to 2005 the Atlanta Braves became an icon for young and old by winning their division title in 14 consecutive seasons and advanced to the World Series five times.

In their history including the time they were the Boston Braves and the Milwaukee Braves the team has won three World Series titles, nine National League pennants and 16 Divisional titles. The Atlanta Braves are actually the only Major League Baseball franchise that has won World Series titles in three different home cities. One of the Atlanta Braves baseball players Eddie Mathews managed to play for all three of the Braves teams in all three home cities. He played with the Boston Brewers in their last season in Boston, the whole time they stayed in Milwaukee and the first season of the Atlanta Braves in Atlanta.
