College Baseball

College baseball in recent years has grown over the last few years. With the College baseball World Series being shown on a national cable network it's no doubt that this has helped college baseball really grow. College baseball though for the most part hasn't been really popular for various reasons. One thing I thing that really hurts college baseball is that most of the games are never shown on television. Only the real big programs have television contracts which really have hurt the sports growth. The other thing about college baseball that people tell me is they don't like the use of aluminum bats. Major League baseball uses wooden bats and it's tough to switch back to wood when in college you have used aluminum bats. many players just can't make that adjustment which has hurt their careers. College baseball though isn't all gloom and doom. College baseball every year have some very competitive teams that are shown on television that helps grow the sport.

College baseball polls are followed closely by baseball fans who love the sport. More and more people every year are being turned on to college baseball which should help it's growth. The biggest problem with college baseball is no one is really reporting on it. This makes it hard for it to really grow which is something it needs. College football and basketball has seen great growth because of the coverage it gets. College baseball just doesn't get the same coverage. The biggest problem could lie with no real big name players to market. If you can market your players than growth is something that you will never get. College baseball needs to market their sport differently or it will never ever grow. Their are probably alot of talent in college baseball , but the average fan doesn't know where it's at so it's hard to judge where the sport is headed. College baseball it seems needs a big shot in the arm, but I don't see where they are going to get it from. Hopefully college baseball will get it's act together soon and more people will be able to watch it on television and the sport will grow. if not I guess it will be another college sport that many people just don't care about anymore.
