Dixie Youth Baseball

The Dixie youth baseball association and league came into existence in the late 1950s, when segregation issues began to boil, when 61 leagues refused to play an all-black team from Charleston. The breakaway teams with a majority of black players created what is now known as the Dixie youth leagues an association now mainly serving Cumberland County and Fayetteville in North Carolina, the Dixie youth baseball home. After separating from Little League the Dixie Youth was integrated back into the Little Leagues in the 1960s. Today the Dixie youth has leagues in 11 states, ranging from Texas to Virginia.

The program is open to everyone and in the Dixie youth baseball World Series have teams played that were all black.

The Dixie Youth baseball rules can be found on the official pages of the Dixie Youth organization and even parents that are not quite sure about the one or other Dixie Youth baseball rule will probably find their answer there.

The different Dixie Youth baseball Leagues have their own Dixie youth baseball games and Dixie youth baseball tournaments as well as a Dixie Youth baseball World Series. The Dixie youths idea was to offer all (really any and all) kids a wholesome sports program as a way to teach ideals such as sportsmanship, fair play and teamwork just like the Little Leagues originally ideas. Today the goals are similar to those in the beginnings of the Dixie youth, to teach children to grow up to be good citizens by learning these values on the field.

The idea originally was to organize games and standardize rules in youth baseball and have a healthy competitive sportsmanlike interaction with other players and teams. Dixie Youth baseball rules and any changes to the rules can always be found on the pages of the Dixie Youth baseball association. Kids and parents should be able to afford it and be able to play baseball. Since Dixie youth baseball gear is fairly expensive fundraising and financial support, mostly from local businesses helps to buy baseball gear for the youth and Dixie youth baseball equipment. Dixie Youth baseball teams need similar gear as most minor or major league teams, anything from boys Dixie youth baseball bats over uniforms to socks. The diamond in Dixie use baseball is medium size to fit the size and age of the kids.

Several affiliated organizations also started to exist to organize baseball in different regions and states. To mention a few, there is the original Baseball Dixie SC Youth in South Carolina, the DYBA Alexandria Dixie youth baseball association in Louisiana, Hartselle Dixie Youth in Northern Alabama and the Hattiesburg Dixie Youth in Mississippi. Each of these leagues have web pages online with schedules, rules and registration information.
