Kansas City Royals

The Kansas City Royals are based in Kansas City Missouri. They are a Major League Baseball team and belong together with four other teams to the American League Central Division.

Baseball started in Kansas City, Missouri in 1883, but not with the Kansas City Royals. Kansas City Royals baseball resides in Kansas only since 1969 after Kansas City lost the Kansas City Athletics to Oakland in 1967.

While the Kansas City logo on baseball players uniforms depicts a small Flag with the letters KC in script, the flag topped with a small crown and the word Royals in script, the baseball hats only show the letters KC.

In 1980 the Kansas City Royals advanced into the American League Championship series and won. But that year they did not win the World Series.

The 1985 Kansas City Royals had all grounds to be proud of themselves, after trailing in the American League Championship and the World Series they won both championships.
Since the beginning of Kansas City Royals baseball the Kansas City Royals schedule includes 162 games a season, since the Major League Baseball season was extended to 162 games a season in 1961 before the opening of the Royals.

In the late 1990s David Cone played for the Kansas City Royals even though the game itself wasn’t as successful Cone played excellent and got awarded with the Cy Young Award for his pitching.

Kansas City Royals spring training takes place in Surprise, Arizona in the Surpise Stadium since 2003. This is the first time in Kansas City Royals history that spring training is not in Florida.

Recently the story about Bill Richardson and the Kansas City Royals was proven wrong. Richardson has stated over several years that he was a drafted in 1960s as a pitcher by the Kansas City Athletics.
