As a Major League Baseball team the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are based in Anaheim, California and belong to the Western Division of the American League. The LA Angels of Anaheim acquired their name after a move from Los Angeles to the Anaheim stadium and because of the unusual length the team is also often referred to as the Los Angeles Angels, the Anaheim Angels or the California Angels.

After several more desastrous seasons and a deteriorating stadium, the city of Anaheim agreed to renovate the stadium by downsizing it and making it a baseball only stadium and in 1996 they also downsized the name of the team to the Anaheim Angels.
In 2002 they finally reached the World Series and won their first World Series title. In 2005 the team was renamed again and they took back their name of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Angels did this move almost purely out of marketing resons to sell their team to the Los Angeles fans as well as the Anaheim fans.
