Los Angeles Dodgers

As a Major League Baseball team the Los Angeles Dodgers belong to the National League, Western Division. The LA Dodgers are based in Los Angeles California and were established in 1883. Back then they originated in Brooklyn, New York as the Brooklyn Dodgers. The moved in 1958 to Los Angeles and was renamed to Los Angeles Dodgers.

In Los Angeles Dodgers history the team was accepted as a member of the National Association of Baseball Players and minor Interstate League team, then moved up to the American Association in 1884 and finally to the National league in 1890.

The Los Angeles Dodgers logos on the uniform differ form the one on the baseball hats. The LA Dodgers logo on the uniform depicts the navy blue script word Dodgers below a baseball with rays crossing the word. On baseball hats the Los Angeles Dodgers logo is made out of the Letters “L” and “A” that are overlapping. Because of the colors the team has also the nickname “the Blue crew”.

Los Angeles Dodgers baseball was fairly successful over the years. They won a total of 6 World Series. In 1955 the Los Angeles Dodgers won one World Series title as the Brooklyn Dodgers and later five as the Los Angeles Dodgers. The Los Angeles Dodgers also won 21 NL pennants and 9 Division titles.

Because of their success the stadium attendance for the Los Angeles Dodgers was always very high. The Dodgers were the first Major League Baseball team to attract more than 3 million fans in the 1978 season. They accomplished more than 3 million fans 6 more times before any other team did. In 2007 the Dodgers’ management announced that since 1901 175 million fans had attended to games. This is a record for all professional sports.
The Los Angeles Dodgers spring training facility is the Holman Stadium in Vero Beach, Florida planning to move spring training to Glendale, Arizona in 2009.
