Major league baseball history is so rich. Everywhere the fans turn, there is a player that they want to become or a team they want to be on or a manager they want to play for. Hank Aaron still tops the charts with the most all time home runs at 755. And, Cy Young tops the charts with the most wins as a pitcher with 511. This dates back all the way to his 1890 season. With players like this in a league that continues to produce statistics such as these and players that are this good, how can you not want to know everything there is to know about major league baseball history?

The fastest pitch in major league baseball history is something that can cause debate. There are several stories that continue to be told about who the fastest pitchers are and what the fastest pitch of all time was. However, there is one person who is recorded on having the fastest pitch of all time, and that was Nolan Ryan on August 20, 1974. Ryan, playing against the Chicago White Sox, threw a ball that clocked 100.9 miles per hour. This was, and still is, the fastest pitch recorded in major league baseball history. And, to this day, it is still recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Some fans might also want to know how they determine how fast the balls are pitched. The answer lies in a RADAR gun. RADAR stands for Radio Detection and Ranging designed to track how fast the pitchers really could throw the ball. Since it’s unveiling in 1935, there has been a lot of interest in this particular device. Much of the media had written about it and did a lot of research on it. Although there are many different arguments about who the fastest pitcher of all time is, the only one recorded is Nolan Ryan. People have said though that there was a pitcher quite some time ago that that could pitch 115 mph. But, that is unfortunately all here say to this day.
