Minnesota Twins

The Minnesota Twins are a Major League Baseball team belonging to the American League Central Division.

Minnesota Twins baseball started in the Twin City of Minneapolis and St. Paul in 1960. The team itself existed long before that, they started out in 1901 as the Washington Nationals or Washington Senators, a name that was used interchangeably. Since their start in 1960 the team plays with a 162 games Minnesota Twins schedule.

The Minnesota Twins baseball team had been rebuilding over the first few years of their existence and also to decide on uniform logos and other important issues such as their name.

On uniforms the Minnesota Twins logo depicts a navy blue “Minnesota” with bigger red letters on a slight angle “Twins” with a baseball in the background. Minnesota Twins baseball hats on the other hand show the letters TC standing for Twin City (referring to the twin cities Minnesota and St. Paul).

The Minnesota Twins where the first team to be named after a state. This happened because the where actually representing two cities, the twin cities Minneapolis and St. Paul. They also represented the state of Minnesota and so it was an easy choice for them to put the state as well as a reference to the Twin cities in their name.

The 1965 Minnesota Twins had their best regular season record so far with 102 wins versus 60 losses. Their worst regular season record as the Washington Senators was in 1904 with only 38 wins and 113 losses and the worst regular season record as Minnesota Twins was in 1982 with 60 wins versus 102 losses.

The Minnesota Twins did not only have bad seasons, they also had excellent seasons, and where they even won several titles. They won 3 World Series titles, in 1924, in 1987 and the most recent one in 1991. They also won 4 West Division and 4 Central Division titles in the American League championships.
