National League Baseball

The National League or also called National League of professional baseball is one of two leagues that constitute Major League Baseball in the United States and Canada. It is the older of the two leagues, the other one being the American League. The National League was founded on February 2nd in 1876 to replace the National Assoctiation of Rpofessional Baseball Players. The original National League baseball teams where the eight chartermembers Chicago White Stockings (now Chicago Cubs), The Philadelphia Athletics (expelled 1877), the Boston Red Stockings (now Atlanta Braves), the Hartford Dark Blues (folded 1877), the Mututal of New York (expelled 876), the St.Louis Brown Stockings (folded 1877), the Cincinnati Red Stokcings (expelled 1880), the Louisville Grays (folded 1877).

In 1903 the first World Series was arranged between the National League and the American league. National League baseball teams have won 42 and lost 60 World Series games from 1903 to 2006. National League baseball scores are recorded through out the season for division titles as well as for player performance. National League baseball scores can be found on the official Major League Baseball pages as well as the individual team pages and in newspapers.

There were 16 National League presidents in National League history, but in 1999 the office of the National League was eliminated.

The National League baseball logos have not changed much since 1969. The current logo shows an eagle with a shield in front of him. The eagle is holding a glove in his left claw and a baseball b at in his right claw. The shield has a basbeall with the words since “1876 National League”, red and whoite stripes behing the baseball and a blure field with currently 16 stars for the 16 teams belonging to the National League.A small red ribbon spans across the eagles legs right below the shield displaying the words ”of professional baseball clubs”.

There are 16 teams in the National League as of now. These teams are split up into three divisions, the eastern Division, the Central division and the Western Division.
Currently there are five National baseball teams in the Eastern Division: Atlanta Braves, Florida Marlins, New York Mets, Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals. Current teams in the National League Central division are the Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Houston Astros, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates and the St. Louis Cardinals (6 teams). In the current Western Division of the National League are the Arizona Diamondbacks, Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants (5 teams).

National League baseball players just as American League players can be honored for extraodinary play by being inducted in the Hall-of-Fame.

2007 national league baseball predictions show the Los Angeles Dodgers as the team entering the World Series, but probably not winning it, rather the New York Yankees are predicted to be the winners. Predictions are difficult and their outcome is most often fairly different from the prediction.
